Abstract AN IMPROVED PROCESS FOR CONVERTING STARCH AND STARCHCONTAINING MATERIAL INTO DEXTROSE AND MALTOSE CONTAIING PRODUCTS HAVING A HIGH DE VALUE IS DISCLOSED. THE PROCESS COMPRISES THE STEPS OF SUBJECTING STARCH MILK TO ACID HYDROLYSIS UNDER SUPERATMOSPHERIC PRESSSURE AND AT A TEMPERATURE ABOVE 600*C. TO OBTAIN A PRODUCT HAVING A DE VALUE BELOW 10. THE PRODUCT IS THEN NEUTRALIZED AND COOLED AFTER WHICH IT IS SUBJECTED TO ENZYMATIC LIQUEFACTION AND FINALLY TO ENZYMATIC SACCHARIFICATION.
