Abstract IN A SUCCESSIVE APPROXIMATION DIGITAL VOLTMETER THE DIGITAL LOGIC IS TIME SHARED BETWEEN SUCCESSIVE RANGES. THE COMPARISON SIGNAL IS BUILT UP BY ANALOG INTEGRATION OF THE CONTRIBUTIONS SWITCHED IN BY THE LOGIC IN EACH RANGE, SUCH CONTRIBUTIONS BEING SCALED DOWN BY A FACTOR OF 10 FOR EACH SUCCESSIVE RANGE. NUMBER TUBES ARE USED TO DISPLAY THE DIGITS FOR THE SUCCESSIVE RANGES AS DETERMINED BY THE LOGIC BUT AGAIN THE LOGIC CONTROLLING THE TUBES IS TIME SHARED, RELIANCE BEING PLACED UPON PERSISTENCE OF VISION TO SYNTHESIZE THE COMPLETE DIGITAL READOUT.
