Abstract A SPARK-GAP DEVICE INCLUDES FIRST AND SECOND ELECTRODES AND AN INSULATING SPACER SEPARATING THE TWO. ALONG THE INSULATING SPACER IS DISPOSED AN ELONGATE CONDUCTIVE LAYER IN INITMATE CONTACT WITH THE SPACER AND ELECTRICALLAY CONNECTED TO A FIRST OF THE ELECTRODES. THE CONDUCTIVE LAYER, WHICH IS NARROW COMPARED TO THE ACTIVE PART OF THE ELECTRODES WHERE ARCING TAKES PLACE, EXTENDS FROM THE FIRST ELECTRODE TOWARD THE SECOND, BUT IS SPACED FROM THE SECOND BY A DISTANCE GREATER THAN THE GAP SPACING BETWEEN THE ELECTRODES.
