Abstract AN IGNITION SYSTEM FOR AN ENGINE IS PROVIDED INCLUDING A SOURCE OF VOLTAGE, ENGINE FUEL IGNITION MEANS AND CONTROLLABLE SWITCH MEANS FOR SELECTIVELY COMPLETING A CIRCUIT WITH THE SOURCE OF VOLTAGE AND THE ENGINE FUEL IGNITION MEANS, THE SWITCH MEANS INCLUDING MAGNETICALLY SENSITIVE SEMICONDUCTIVE MEANS RESPONSIVE TO A MAGNETIC FIELD FOR ACTUATING THE SWITCH MEANS TO COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT. A MAGNETIC ROTOR IS EMPLOYED FOR PRODUCING A MAGNETIC FIELD, THE MAGNETICALLY SENSITIVE SEMICONDUCTIVE MEANS BEING RESPONSIVE TO THE MAGNETIC FIELD OF THE ROTOR.
