Abstract THE BEAM IS MADE FROM LIGHTWEIGHT EXTRUDED SQUARE TUBING TO FORM A PLURALITY OF BRACED SECTIONS RELEASABLY JOINED TOGETHER AT THEIR ABUTTED ENDS TO FROM A SPAN OF CONSIDERABLE LENGTH. THE BOTTOM RUNS OF THE SECTIONS CONTAIN A TENSION CABLE FOR REDUCING THE STATIC DEFLECTION, DAMPENING THE SPRINGBOARD EFFECT, CARRYING A SUBSTANTIAL PORTION OF THE TENSILE LOAD AND PROVIDING SAFETY.
