Abstract

Abstract A pool table is comprised of a bed mounted on a steel frame which is supported by legs and which is capable of ready assembly from a disassembled condition without the use of special tools or skills. A rail and bumper structure is mounted on the bed and is releasably connected the frame by bolts so that the bed is clamped between the rail and bumper structure and the frame. A fabric cover is provided for the bed and is releasably clamped between the bed and the rail and bumper structure to permit ready removal and replacement thereof.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 302 words
A pool table comprising a substantially flat rectangular bed, having a plurality of vertically oriented spaced apart openings therein adjacent the marginal portions thereof, a rail and bumper structure positioned upon said bed adjacent the marginal portions thereof, said structure having a plurality of vertically oriented spaced openings therein, each being disposed in registering relation with an opening in said bed, a metallic frame supporting said bed and having leg means secured thereto and projecting downwardly therefrom, said frame including a pair of elongate longitudinal rigid metallic frame members, said longitudinal frame members having a plurality of openings therein adjacent the upper edge thereof, each opening in one longitudinal frame member being disposed in alignment with an opening in the other longitudinal frame member, transverse frame members extending between said longitudinal frame members, cooperating means on said transverse and longitudinal frame members detachably interconnecting said frame members together, a plurality of spaced-apart elongate metallic truss members and each extending between said longitudinal frame members, and projecting through an aligned pair of openings in the longitudinal frame members, opposite end portions of said truss members projecting outwardly from said longitudinal frame members and supporting outer marginal portions of said bed, and a plurality of connecting members, each extending through registering openings in said bed and said rail and bumper structure, and being connected to one of said truss members, each connecting member having an enlarged upper end to engage the rail and bumper structure, but extending loosely through the associated openings in the bed and the rail and bumper structure to clamp the rail and bumper structure and bed on the frame whereby disconnection of the connecting members from the truss members permits ready removal of the bed and the rail and bumper structure from the frame without requiring disassembly of the frame.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 302 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 31 words
The pool table as defined in claim 1 wherein said means detachably interconnecting said frame members together comprises tabs on said transverse frame members and slots in said longitudinal frame members.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 60 words
The pool table as defined in claim 1 wherein the upper surface of said bed has elongate upwardly facing recesses therein adjacent the marginal portions thereof, and wherein said rail and bumper structure has elongate downwardly projecting elements thereon positioned in said elongate recesses whereby said rail and bumper structure is releasably locked against lateral movement relative to said bed.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 40 words
The pool table as defined in claim 1 and a plurality of spacer elements supported on said truss members and presenting a substantially flat upper surface disposed substantially coplanar with the upper surface of said longitudinal and transverse frame members.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 124 words
The pool table as defined in claim 1 wherein bumper and rail structure includes a pair of similar elongate side rail members positioned upon the longitudinal edge portions of the bed and each having longitudinally facing openings in the respective ends thereof defining female sockets, a pair of similar elongate end rail members positioned upon the end edge portions of said bed, and each end rail member having openings in the respective ends thereof, a plurality of similar corner rail members extending between adjacent end portions of a pair of rail members, each corner rail member having reduced end portions defining malE socket elements which project into the female sockets of the adjacent side and end rail members for detachably connecting the same together.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 60 words
The pool table as defined in claim 5 wherein the upper surface of said bed has elongate upwardly facing recesses therein adjacent the marginal portion thereof, each of said side and end rail members having a downwardly projecting element thereon positioned in a recess in the bed to releasably lock each rail member against lateral displacement relative to said bed.
