Oxygen lance
Abstract
Abstract An oxygen lance for the injection of oxygen into a molten material. The lance includes an elongate tubular shank and a gasinjection tip, the lower portion of the shank proximate the tip being circular and provided with longitudinal, solid formations projecting outwardly therefrom for anchoring frozen, i.e. solidified, portions of molten material in which such lower portion of the shank is immersed. A universal pendulous mounting is provided to support the lance from a furnace roof, and a hose or other flexible means is secured to the upper portion of the shank for supplying oxygen. Such a construction permits the lance to swing when contacted by solid masses floating in the molten material.
