Abstract A READY-TO-USE PHENOLIC ADHESIVE FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF PLYWOOD IS DESCRIBED WHICH CONTAINS A MICRONIZED SOLID RESIDUE OF THE ACID HYDROLYSIS OF PENTOSAN-CONTAINING MATERIALS. THE ADHESIVE IS PREPARED BY DIGESTING THE MICRONIZED SOLID RESIDUE IN AN ALKALI SOLUTION AND THEN REACTING PHENOL AND FORMALDEHYDE IN THE SOLUTION CONTAINING THE RESIDUE.
