Abstract THE INVENTION IS DIRECTED TO A METHOD FOR SPLICING RELATIVELY THICK, CARDBOARD WEBS WHEREIN A SIMPLE OVERLAP SPLICE IS FIRST EFFECTED WHEREUPON THE SPLICED WEB IS DIRECTED THROUGH ABRADING MEANS TO THEREBY REDUCE THE DOUBLE WEB THICKNESS OF THE SPLICE TO SUBSTANTIALLY NORMAL WEB THICKNESS.
