THIS LUBRICATING COMPOSITION CONTAINS AN ALIPHATIC OR AROMATIC CARBOXYLIC ACID HAVING 2 TO ABOUT 40 CARBON ATOMS, E.G., THE ACIDS OBTAINED BY HYDROLYSIS OF AND CONTAINED IN CRAMBE AND RAPESEED OILS AND MIXTURES OF THEM, AND A MINERAL LUBRICATING OIL HAVING A LOW CARBON RESIDUE AND LOW AROMATIC CARBON CONTENT WHICH CAN BE PREPARED BY A TWO-STAGE CATALYTIC HYDROGENATION PROCESS.
