Abstract LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS, WHICH EXHIBIT CONTROLLED FOAMING AND ARE USEFUL OVER A WIDE RANGE OF WATER HARDNESS, ARE DISCLOSED. THE LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS ARE USEFUL IN LUBRICATING AND CLEANING CONVEYOR BELTS, CHAINS AND THE LIKE SYSTEMS. THE LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS PREFERABLY CONTAIN AN AMPHOLYTE, WHICH IS PREFERABLY A DERIVATIVE OF A FATTY PRIMARY AMINE AND A SALT OF A PHOSPHATE ESTER OF AN OLEYL ALCOHOL ETHOXYLATE. METHODS FOR THE USE OF THESE COMPOSITIONS ARE ALSO DISCLOSED.
