Abstract
Abstract REAR PROJECTION SCREENS THAT CONSIST ESSENTIALLY OF POLYPROPYLENE CAN BE IMPROVED SIGNIFICANTLY BY INCORPORATING INTO THE SCREEN ONE OR MORE "CRYSTAL DEFORMING" ADDITIVES, SUCH AS FINELY DIVIDED STARCH, SUCROSE OCTOACETATE AND CELLULOSE ACETATE BUTYRATE, WHICH ADDITIVES (A) ARE ESSENTIALLY NON-NUCLEATING IN THEIR EFFECT ON THE CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF THE SCREEN MATERIAL, (B) ARE ABLE TO DEFORM THE SPHERULITES IN THE CRYSTALS STRUCTURE TO THEREBY INCREASE THE SPHERULITES IN THE CRYSTALS STRUCTURE TO THEREBY INCREASE LIGHT DIFFUSION AND (C) HAVE REFRACTIVE INDICES WITHIN $0.05 OF THAT OF THE POLYPROPYLENE IN THE SCREENS.
