Abstract

Abstract The invention provides a ventilating fan unit insertable into an opening in a windowpane or the like partition and adapted to propel air from the outside atmosphere into a ventilated interior and at the same time to exhaust air from the ventilated interior to the outside atmosphere, which comprises two half shells which cover the outside and inside respectively of said opening and bear with their peripheral edges against opposite sides of the edges thereof to form a gas and liquidtight joint. Each shell is formed with a central recessed portion the floors of which are detachably connected back to back. To said floors a common fan motor is affixed, the two shaft ends of which extend axially into the recessed portions where they carry flow fans. Each fan propels an air stream in countercurrent to the other. The recessed portions are formed with nozzles projecting from the periphery of said portions and extending through the opening in the partition.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 227 words
A ventilating fan unit insertable into an opening in a windowpane, in a wall or other partition and adapted to propel air from the outside atmosphere into a ventilated interior and at the same time to exhaust air from the ventilated interior to the outside atmosphere, comprising: a. a fan housing composed of two half shells covering the outside and inside respectively of said opening and bearing with their peripheral edges against opposite sides of the edges thereof, to form gastight and liquidtight joints; b. a central recessed portion with a panel at its base formed in each of said half shells, the panels of said two recessed portions being detachably connected back-to-back approximately in the plane defined by the peripheral edges of said half shells; c. a fan motor affixed to both said panels and having a shaft transverse to said plane with the oppositely projecting shaft ends each extending axially into one of said recessed portions, d. a flow fan in each of said recessed portions secured to each of said shaft ends and adapted to propel an airstream in countercurrent to the other airstream through said fan housing in separate paths; and e. at least one duct extending from the periphery of the recessed portion in each of the half shells through the opening in the partition into and through the other half shell.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 227 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 71 words
A ventilating fan unit as claimed in claim 1, where each of the recessed portions is formed with at least two ducts projecting from the periphery of said recessed portion, the ducts of one recessed portion crossing the nozzles of the other recessed portion in the opening in the partition so that the ducts of each recessed portion convey air from the one side to the other side of said partition.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 35 words
A ventilating fan unit as claimed in claim 1, comprising throttling mechanisms in the ducts in the half shells for at least partly shutting off said ducts, said ducts being controlled by common actuating means.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 19 words
A ventilating fan unit as claimed in claim 1, comprising replaceable filter means in the ends of the ducts.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 19 words
A ventilating fan unit as claimed in claim 1, comprising electrical heating means in the ends of the ducts.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 47 words
A ventilating fan unit as claimed in claim 1, wherein the recessed portion of the one half shell together with its duct has the same size as the recessed portion of the other half shell together with its duct, both recessed portions being replaceable by each other.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 24 words
A ventilating fan unit as claimed in claim 1, wherein the ducts constitute bearings resting on the edge of the opening in the partition.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 75 words
A ventilating fan unit as claimed in claim 1, wherein the fan motor together with the flow fans mounted on the ends of the motor shaft as well as the recessed portions together with their ducts are inclined within the fan housing with respect to the plane of the partition so that the ducts project in the exact centrifugal direction of the flow fans and extend through the opening in the partition in opposite directions.
