Abstract REACTION OF HYDROGEN SULFIDE WITH THE HEMI-QUINONE OF A METHYLENE BISPHENOL RESULTS IN A TETRANUCLEAR PHENOL IN WHICH TWO MOLECULES OF THE METHYLENE BISPHENOL ARE BRIDGED AT THEIR METHYLENE GROUPS THROUGH A SULFUR ATOM. THESE ARE THIODIMETHYLIDYNE TETRAKISPHENOLS. THE COMPOUNDS ARE USEFUL AS ANTIOXIDANTS, EITHER ALONE OR IN COMBINATION WITH A DIALKYLTHIODIALKANOATE, A PHOSPHITE OR A PHOSPHONATE SYNERGIST.
