Abstract A METHOD FOR PRODUCING A FIBRILLATED AND CRINKLED THERMOPLASTIC TEXTILE PRODUCT. THE METHOD INVOLVES THE EXTRUSION OF A FOAMED THERMOPLASTIC RIBBON UNDER TENSION SUFFICIENT TO PRODUCE HOT-MELT DRAWING. THE FIBRILLATED THERMOPLASTIC RIBBON IS THEN MOLECULARLY ORIENTED AND SUBSEQUENTLY HEAT RELAXED SO AS TO PRODUCE THE CRINKLED CHARACTERISTICS.
