Abstract A MATRIX ELECTRODE FOR THE MOLTEN LITHIUM OF A LI(LICL)CL2 FUEL CELL, WHICH ELECTRIDE IS A POROUS BUNDLE OF SPECIFICALLY ORIENTED FILAMENTS OF A METERIAL WHICH IS PREFERENTIALLY WETTED BY THE LITHIUM. A PARTICULAR FILAMENT BUNDLE HAS SPACER FILAMENTS INTERMITTENLY DISPOSED BETWEEN LAYERS OF WOVEN OR MESHED FILAMENTS. SIMPLY SEALED BATTERY OF CELLS HAVING MATRIX ELECTRODES IS DESCRIBED.
