Abstract SUBSTITUTED 2-ANILINOPHENYLACETIC ACIDS, THEIR ESTERS AND SALTS HAVE DESIRABLE ABSORPTION PATTERNS FOR PROTECTING THE SKIN AGAINST THE IRRITATING EFFECT OF ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT. THE COMPOUNDS ARE ALSO ANTINFLAMMATORY AGENTS. TYPICAL EMBODIMENTS ARE 2-(2,6-DICHLOROANILINO)-PHENYLACETIC ACID, THE SODIUM SALT THEREOF AND THE METHYL ESTER THEREOF.
