Abstract

Abstract A throat plate for double chainstitch sewing machines provided with a thread-carrying needle, a thread-carrying chainstitch looper and a thread spreader to permit the forming of seams in any feed direction of the workpiece. The throat plate having a groovelike stitch hole is pivoted in the bedplate about the axis of the needle. For use in sewing devices with restricted guidance of the sewing cycle, the throat plate pivoted in the bedplate of the sewing machine is controlled by patterns of corresponding shape for the alignment of the groovelike stitch hole in the feed direction.
