Abstract A DEVICE FOR MEASURING LONGITUDINAL STRESSES OCCURRING ACROSS MOVING METAL BANDS UNDER LONGITUDINAL TENSION BY MEANS OF A DEFLECTING ROLLER CARRYING MEASURING DISCS. THE DEFLECTING FORCES ARISING IN THE CENTER OF THE BAND AND AT BOTH EDGES ARE MEASURED. THESE DEFLECTING FORCES ARE PROPORTIONAL TO THE TENSILE STRESSES.
