Abstract
Abstract A shredding or fluffing machine for fibrous material such as groundwood, comprising a toothed holding member and a shredding roller with teeth engaging the axial space between the teeth of the holding member with a depth of engagement less than half of the length of the shredding roller, preferably near zero, and a method for operating the machine with a peripheral speed of the shredding roller exceeding 20 m./sec.
