Abstract A FLOWMETER, ESPECIALLY FOR USE IN MEASURING AND RECORDING THE VOLUME RATE OF BLOOD FLOW, IN WHICH A SINGLE ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCER IS ALTERNATELY USED AS EMITTER AND RECEIVER OF ULTRASONIC WAVES. THE TRANSDUCER IS USED TO MEASURE ECHOS INDICATING THE SIZE OF THE BLOOD VESSEL AND THE SPEED OF THE BLOOD FLOWING IN THE VESSEL. BY CALCULATION, THE VOLUME RATE OF FLOW IS DERIVED.
