APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATICALLY SEALING THE OPEN TOP FLAPS OF A CARTON PASSING THERETHROUGH, COMPRISING (A) A BED PORTION SUPPORTING A CARTON MOVING THEREOVER, (B) A BRIDGE MEMBER DISPOSED LONGITUDINALLY ABOVE AT LEAST A PORTION OF SAID CARTON SUPPORTING BED, (C) MEANS ASSOCIATED WITH SAID BED AND SUPPORTING SAID BRIDGE MEMBER FOR VERTICAL RECIPROCAL MOVEMENT RELATIVE TO A CARTON BODY WITH OPEN TOP FLAPS MOVING OVER SAID BED, (D) MEANS ON SAID BRIDGE MEMBER FOR AUTOMATICALLY AND SEQUENTIALLY SENSING THE HEIGHT OF A CARTON BODY MOVING THEREUNDER AND APPLYING SEALING MEANS THERETO, AND (E) SAID HEIGHT SENSING MEMBER WHEN ENGAGED BY THE BODY PORTION OF A MOVING CARTON BEING DISPLACED TO ACTUATE SAID BRIDGE SUPPORTING MEANS TO RAISE THE BRIDGE AND THE HEIGHT SENSING MEMBER ABOVE A POSITION FOR CONTACT BY SAID CARTON.
