A PROCESS OF REDUCING THE ACIDITY OF FINELY DIVIDED TITANIUM DIOXIDE PREPARED BY REACTION OF TITANIUM TETRACHLORIDE WITH OXYGEN WHICH COMPRISES CONTACTING TITANIUM DIOXIDE SUSPENDED IN GASES RESULTING FROM SAID REACTION WITH A MEMBER OF THE GROUP CONSISTING OF BROMIDES, CHLORIDES, AND IODIDES OF BORON IN VAPOR STATE, AND THEREAFTER HEATING THE TREATED TITANIUM DIOXIDE WITH A MEMBER OF OF THE GROUP CONSISTING OF WATER VAPOR AND AIR UNTIL THE CHLORINE CONTENT OF SAID TITANIUM DIOXIDE HAS BEED REDUCED.
