Synthetic ribbed drainage pipes with wrapping - of slag fibres formed into mats or enclosing only rib troughs
Abstract
Abstract A wrapping of mineral wool fibre flocks held together by an open net of polyethylene or polypropylene, is used to clad synthetic drainage and irrigation pipes. The pipes have external ribs and holes for the passage of fluid and the cladding may be applied only in the troughs of the undulations or the wrapping may have the form of an actual mat of mineral wool fibres. The problems of bacterial attack of claddings of coconut matting and the expensive as well as the unattractiveness of glass fibres, are overcome. The mineral fibres selected must not have water repellent characteristics, and fibres from metallurgical slag are applied with success.
