Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To freely change the size of the main body of a character to be printed and to enhance printing quality, by providing a means for performing operation according to addition or erasure data when the image data of the character is transmitted to the second memory means. CONSTITUTION:The printing code held to the first memory means 10 is read in printing order. Next, the image data corresponding to this printing code and attribute data (data of an addition or erasure position) are read from a character data memory means 11 and subsequently separated by an attribute and image data separation means 12 to determine the erasure position of a dot row. Next, the image data is transmitted to the second memory means 13. At this time, when a character size is desired to be altered, the addition or erasure of image data is performed according to the attribute data by an operation means 14 and this altered image data is transmitted to the second memory means 13. A printing head is driven on the basis of the data stored in the second memory means 13 to print a character in various sizes.
