Pattern matching method

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To avoid the misdetection of a pattern and to ensure the highly flexible test search processing by using a code converting mechanism to convert the codes of different length included in a text or pattern into the codes of the same length and performing a pattern matching job. CONSTITUTION:The text to be retrieved is stored in a secondary storage device 100 or a main storage device 101 and then supplied to a pattern retrieving device 200. Then the character strings of the text are retrieved by the device 200. The input text is supplied to an input code buffer 20 of the device 200. A code train 2 of the input text undergoes the conversion through a code converting mechanism 1 and is supplied to a converted code buffer 40. Then a converted code train 4 is supplied to a pattern matching mechanism 300 for the execution of a pattern matching job. Thus the pattern matching operation is possible for the synonymous characteristics of different codes. Then a text can be searched with extremely high flexibility.
