Radiation detector
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a measuring circuit of a detector, for rendering the detector to be compact in size and light in weight, by providing, with respect to a photon of an incident radiation, a semiconductor radiation sensor which outputs a pulse corresponding to an energy of the photon, a variable voltage source, a discriminator, a pulse counter, a plurality of memories and a arithmetic unit. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor radiation sensor 3 comprised of a semiconductor crystal 1 and an amplifier 2 outputs to a photon of an incident radiation a pulse corresponding to an energy of the photon. A discriminator 4 and a pulse counter 5 are connected in series to the sensor 3. By changing an output voltage of a variable voltage source 6 over time, pulses outputted from the sensor 3 in a specified sampling time are counted by the discriminator 4 and the pulse-counter 5 which are then successively inputted to a plurality of memories 7. Thereafter, the counted number stored in each memory 7 is differentiated by an arithmetic 8, unit so that an energy spectrum of the photon of the radiation incident upon a semiconductor detector is obtained.
