Very thin material for welded can having superior seam weldability, corrosion resistance and coatability
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the seam weldability, corrosion resistance and coatability of the title material by interposing an Ni-Fe-Sn alloy layer between a sheet to be plated and an Sn intermediate coat and forming a chromate film on the intermediate coat. CONSTITUTION:This very thin material for welded cans is obtd. by subjecting both sides of a sheet of 0.1-0.18mm thickness corresponding to the outsides and insides of cans to prescribed plating and chromating. An Ni-Sn-Fe alloy underlayer by 5-100mg/m<2> coating weight of Ni, an Sn intermediate coat by 500-1,200mg/m<2> coating weight of Sn and a chromate film by 1-300mg/m<2> coating weight (expressed in terms of Cr) are successively formed on one side of the sheet corresponding to the outsides of cans. An Sn undercoat by 1,350-3,000mg/m<2> coating weight of Sn or an Ni-Sn-Fe alloy underlayer by 5-100mg/m<2> coating weight of Ni, an Sn intermediate coat by 1,350-3,000mg/m<2> coating weight of Sn and a chromate film by 1-30mg/m<2> coating weight (expressed in terms of Cr) are successively formed on the other side of the sheet corresponding to the insides of cans.
