Aromatic polyimide-ether and its use

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer having good heat resistance and excellent moldability and useful for containers of electrical components, insulation films for multilayer interconnection of LSI, oriented films for chip protective film liquid crystals for shielding alpha-rays, etc., having repeating units of specified formulas. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polyimide-ether having repeating units of formula I (wherein R1-R4 are each H, a lower alkyl, an alkoxyl, Cl or Br, R5 and R6 are each H, CH3, C2H5, CF3 or CCl3). This polymer has good heat resistance and excellent moldability, it soluble in an organic solvent and is suitable for coating. It can be obtained by polymerizing a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride of formula II (wherein R1-R6 are as defined above) with a bis[4-(4- aminophenoxy)phenyl]alkane compound of formula III (wherein R1-R6 are as defined above).
