Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent printing shift by correcting the shift of a passbook in the line feed direction thereof, by a method wherein a pair of rollers are provided on both sides in front of a printing head with respect to the line feed direction of the passbook in a separable manner so as to provide an angle of inclination of about 45 deg. with respect to the line feed direction and rotated to move the passbook up and down. CONSTITUTION:A pair of rollers 8, 7 are arranged on both sides of the surface to be printed of a passbook in front of a printing head 2 with respect to the line feed direction of the passbook in a separable manner so as to be inclined at about 45 deg. with respect to the line feed direction, and a rotary means for rotating the rollers and an up-and-down drive means for moving the rollers up and down so that the rollers are brought into contact with the passbook or separated therefrom are provided. When the passbook 1 is fed by a feed roller 5, the rollers 8, 8 usually present at an upper position are moved to the lower position by the up-and-down drive means to be brought into contact with both sides of the upper end part of the passbook under pressure and rotated in the direction shown by an arrow (b) by the rotary means. By this method, the force for expanding the passbook in the diagonally outside direction acts on the upper end part of the passbook and printing shift in the line feed directions is corrected. On and after, the rollers 8, 8 are held at the upper position to generate no trouble in the printing of the passbook 1 at all.
