Mechanism for supporting head slider

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve rigidity in a horizontal direction without damaging the deforming performance of a supporting spring by providing a projection on a supporting member and providing an aperture part on a pressure spring to correspond to this projection. CONSTITUTION:A slider 1 is mounted on a slider supporting member 2 to support the slider and a pivot 4 and a projection 7 are provided on the slider supporting member 2 and formed in integrated construction with a gimbal 3. Then, the gimbal 3 is welded to a pressure spring 6 and an aperture part 5 is provided on a pressure spring 6 facing the projection 7. The projection 7 provided on the slider supporting member 2 is protruded to the aperture part 5 of the pressure spring 6. When large force is received in an in-plane direction by adhesion at the activating time of the device, the projection 7 and the aperture part 5 are brought into contact there with and the force is transmitted to the pressure spring 6. Then, the permanent deforming of the slider supporting member 2 can be prevented.
