Magneto-optical recording medium

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium having a high recording sensitivity and excellent stability with age by forming a reflecting layer of an Al alloy contg. a prescribed ratio of Ta. CONSTITUTION:An interference layer, a magneto-optical recording layer and the reflecting layer are successively provided on a substrate. This reflecting layer is formed of the Al alloy contg. Ta and the content of the Ta therein is 0.1-15atom.%. The substrate is exemplified by substrates consisting of glass, plastic such as acrylic resin or metals such as aluminum or substrates formed with a grooved resin on the glass, etc. A polycrystalline perpendicularly magnetized film of an amorphous alloy of rare earths and transition metal such as TbFe or TbFeCo is used as the magneto-optical recording layer. The recording medium having excellent reproduction signal quality and recording sensitivity is thereby obtd.
