Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent noise from being erroneously detected by enabling an amplification factor to be switched in an amplifying means, which amplifies a detection signal from a knocking sensor, and, in the time of switching control of the amplification factor, invalidating a knocking decision output for the predetermined time. CONSTITUTION:A knocking signal, detected by a knocking sensor 11, is amplified by an amplifying means 12, able to switch its amplification factor into a number of stages, thereafter supplied to a knocking decision level creating means 14. Here creating a knocking decision level to be compared with the knocking sensor signal in a knocking decision means 15, it is decided from the compared result whether knocking exists or not. And supplying a knocking decision output to a driving means 17, an internal combustion engine 18 is controlled in its ignition timing, fuel supply amount, etc. Controlling the amplification factor to be switched by an amplification factor switching means 13 in accordance with an engine operative condition, for a predetermined period after a switching instruction is generated, the decision output from the knocking decision means 15 is invalidated by a knocking decision invalidating means 19.
