Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp image having a high contrast by forming an electrode and ferroelectric layer on an insulating substrate. CONSTITUTION:The electrode 13 consisting of ITO is provided on the insulating substrate 12 consisting of a glass substrate and the ferroelectric layer 14 consisting of non-single crystalline TiBaO3 is provided on the electrode 13. The liquid crystal panel using this active device, i.e., the liquid crystal panel formed by holding the liquid crystal F between the lower substrate D consisting of the electrode 13 consisting of ITO formed on the insulating substrate 12 made of the glass plate and the ferroelectric layer 14 consisting of the non-single crystalline TiBaO3 and the upper substrate E formed of the electrode 16 made of ITO on the glass substrate 15 has no annihilation of the image information by the leak current of the liquid crystal itself and forms the sharp image having the high contrast.
