Manufacture of ceramic-based superconducting wire
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To make it possible to manufacture a superconducting wire of a long size and having fine and tight texture by laminating a primary sintered ceramic film over the circumference of a noble metal wire, further covering its circumference with a noble metal, and then heating them in an oxidizing atmosphere to produce superconductivity. CONSTITUTION:Yttrium(Y), barium(Ba) and copper(Cu) at the ratio of the number of atoms 1:2:3 are applied on the circumference of a silver wire. The wire is then heated to form a partially sintered deposit layer of thin ceramic. Repeating the above process of forming the thin layer, ceramic layers are laminated. The circumference of the material prepared above is then covered with a silver plating and heated in an oxygen flow, to make the primary sintered layer superconducting and to manufacture a superconductive wire. The silver in this case applies as a stabilizer compression forces to the inner layers and at the same time oxygen is diffused through the silver to oxidize the inner layers. In this way it is possible to manufacture a superconducting wire of a long size and having ceramic layers of fine and tight texture.
