In-tank type fuel pump
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To enable high-frequency noise due to resonance to be eliminated when fuel is returned along with air bubbles into a fuel tank by providing a bypass groove connected to an exhaust port for discharging the air bubbles to the outside of a pump chamber. CONSTITUTION:A small quantity of fuel is discharged from a pump chamber 30 into a passage formed by a circular groove 31G of a pump-cover 31 and a circular channel 32C of a rubber-mount 32, along with air bubbles discharged from an exhaust port 31F. The air bubble and fuel strike obstructions 31J provided in the circular groove 31G to become a turbulent flow, further strike a circular bank 32B of the rubber-mount 32, and are discharged through an end port 31H into a fuel tank with the energy being absorbed and the velocity being reduced. As a result, the discharged air bubbles and fuel do not directly strike the bottom face of the fuel tank, and a propagated high-frequency pulsation is also absorbed by the rubbermount 32. No resonance can therefore be generated in the fuel tank.
