Separation of volatile mixture
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To separate azeotropic organic components easily and at low cost by a system in which an azeotropic mixture solution is separated through the first liquid distilation process, the second separation process using a gas separation membrane and the third distillation process of components containing a high percentage of vapor in that sequential order. CONSTITUTION:Ethanol solution is evaporated by the first evaporator 1. The mixed vapor thus evaporated is heated to a higher temperature by a superheater 2 and this heated vapor is supplied to the primary side of a gas separation membrane 4 from a line C. Then the secondary side is decompressed and the permeating mixed gas is supplied to the second evaporator 5 from a line D. An effluent aqueous ethanol solution from the bottom of the first evaporator 1 is supplied to the second evaporator 5 from a line I. A mixed gas running out of the top of the second evaporator 2 is transferred to a cooler 6 from a line E and condensed to be recovered from a line F as a dilute alcohol solution. At the same time, an effluent acqueous solution containing a small amount of ethanol flowing out of the bottom is recovered from a line G. A non-permeating gas in the separation membrane 4 is recovered fro the line D as a concentrated ethanol solution Vapor separation becomes feasible due to the use of a membrane.
