Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a stereoscopic display device which can easily specify the position of instrumentation while executing stereoscopic vision by converting a three-dimensional positional coordinate specified by a three-dimensional position specification means to a two-dimensional coordinates on a right image and a left image. CONSTITUTION:Cursor information in first and second graphic memories 12 and 13 is displayed with superimposing to a video signal to specify an instrumentation point for executing the instrumentation of a distance in a stereoscopic displayed image. The storage content of the memories 12 and 13 is decided by the output of a coordinate arithmetic means 17. Therefore an operator can correlatively obtain the two-dimensional coordinates on the right image and the left image with the aid of the means 17 by operating the three-dimensional position specification means 15 and specifying the three-dimensional positional coordinate while executing the stereoscopic vision of the displayed image on a CRT display 5 through a spectacle shutter 7. As these two-dimensional coordinates are displayed with superimposing to the video signal through the memories 12 and 13, the position of the instrumentation can be easily specified.
