Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To keep an output level of an image sensor constant by changing the transmissivity of a filter between a light source and an original in response to the change in the charge storage time of the image sensor at the time of density change. CONSTITUTION:The filter 4 consists of parts (filter chips) 4-1-4-n of different transmissivity A and is turned around a fluorescent light 3. In receiving a density designation instruction, a control section 5 gives a signal setting a change storage time Tint corresponding to its density to a CCD (image pickup element) drive circuit 6. Further, in order to select the transmissivity of the filter corresponding to the density, a signal driving a stepping motor 8 by a prescribed step is fed to a motor drive circuit 9. Thus, a prescribed Tint corresponding to the selectable density and a table for a signal selecting the pulse number of the stepping motor 8 corresponding to the transmissivity A are preset in a ROM in the control section 5. Thus, the output level from the image sensor is made constant to obtain a stable picture signal.
