Stn type liquid crystal display element

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve contrast by forming a black mask between electrodes of one substrate. CONSTITUTION:This STN type liquid crystal display element has a pair of the glass substrates 1, 2 and is patterned and formed with the transparent electrodes 3, 4 consisting of ITO films, etc., on the inside surfaces of the respective substrates 1, 2 by a conventional method. The electrodes 3, 4 are formed to the stripe shapes intersecting orthogonally with each other to constitute matrix electrodes. The black mask 5 is formed by offset-printing black ink and subjecting the printing to a heating treatment for one hour at 150 deg.C. The display element which can deal with high duty and has good contrast is thereby obtd.
