Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To attempt to shorten the air cut time by indexing a distance between the tip of a blade in the stand-by position and a work surface by means of an ultrasonic wave sensor and slowing the moving speed of a cutter after moving it quickly to the predetermined position closed to the work surface. CONSTITUTION:When an ultrasonic wave sensor 1 is actuated and a drilling machine is operated after setting the predetermined distance(d) for the moving speed of a main shaft cylinder 2, the main shaft cylinder 2 is lowered quickly by a motor 5 during the distance x measured by the ultrasonic wave sensor 1 is larger than (a+d) (a denotes the distance of the sensor 1 from the tip of a cutter 4 and d the predetermined distance for the moving speed of the main shaft 2). However, when the measured distance x becomes equal to (a+d), a control circuit 11 slows down the rotation speed of the motor 5 by the instruction issued from a comparision circuit 10 and switches the lowering speed of the main shaft cylinder 2 to the predetermined low value. Thus, the air cut time for the approaching of the cutter 4 to a work 7 is shortened thereby machining efficiency is enhanced.
