Manufacture of rare-earth magnet
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To form the rare-earth magnet in an excellent anisotropic state by a method wherein the magnetic field molding powder, formed by mixing the amorphous alloy powder having the R-value higher than magnet composition, is formed into the prescribed range of average grain diameter. CONSTITUTION:The amorphous alloy powder having a composition value higher than the R-composition value of the target composition based on the R2T14B magnet and the amorphous alloy powder having a composition value lower than the above-mentioned R-composition value of the target composition are blended in such a manner that substantially the above- mentioned target composition will be achieved, and the mixed powder substantially of 0.3-10 mum in average grain diameter is obtained. The molded material obtained by conducting orientation in magnetic field is sintered and an aging treatment is performed thereon. As above-mentioned, the rare-earth magnet of high quality, having the magnetic characteristics higher than those which are obtained when the amorphous alloy powder of the target magnet composition is used independently, can be obtained when the mixed material powder, consisting of RTB quenched amorphous alloy powder having the R-composition value higher than the R-composition value of the R2T14B magnet composition which is the target magnet composition, is used. In the above-mentioned formula, R is the rare-earth element of Y and Ce, Pr, Nd, Cd, Tb, Dy, H and the like, and T is the transition metal consisting of Al, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and the like.
