Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To suppress an interlayer effect by incorporating in a silver halide emulsion layer a coupler dispersed in the forms of oil globules and another coupler dispersed in an aqueous solution of alkali, and a diffusive development inhibitor or its precursor. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide emulsion layer is enhanced in graininess by incorporating the first coupler soluble in high-boiling organic solvents dispersed in the forms of fine globules and the second coupler, preferably, having an acid group, such as a sulfonic or carboxylic acid group, dispersed or dissolved in an aqueous solution of alkali. The addition of the compound capable of producing or releasing the development inhibitor or its precursor together with the combination of both couplers permits sharpness to be enhanced, disturbance of color balance due to an excessive interlayer effect to be prevented, and color reproduction to be enhanced.
