Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce the color swear of a transfer image between the 1st color and the 2nd and succeeding colors by causing discharge from inside a dielectric screen before the transfer of the 1st color while bringing a transfer material into contact with the screen by a counter electrode. CONSTITUTION:The transfer material 8 conveyed from a from cassette as shown by B is conveyed by the rotation of a transfer drum while its front end is gripped by a gripper on the dielectric screen 15 of the transfer drum. Then, an electrostatic charger 17 for attraction is arranged inside the drum at the upstream side of a transfer area and the counter electrode 18 made of a metallic plate serving as a transfer material pressure plate is provided on the top surface side of the transfer material 16 opposite the charger and supported on a bracket 21 through an elastic member 19. The transfer material 16 is pressed by the electrode 18 through the operation of a solenoid 20 before the transfer of the 1st color to contact the screen 15 and discharge is caused by the charger in this state; and the solenoid 20 is not put in operation during the transfer of the 2nd and succeeding colors to separate the electrode 18 from the transfer material 16, thereby preventing a transferred image from being disordered. Consequently, the transfer material 18 is brought into contact with the screen 15 with sufficient attractive force.
