Water and oil repellent material

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide the title material capable of imparting an excellent water and oil repellency to fibers regardless of the kinds thereof as well as improving slip resistance of the fibers, which comprises a specific polymerizable compd. and a copolymer comprising a methacrylic acid ester. CONSTITUTION:The title material comprises a copolymer composed of a polymerizable compd. having a perfluoroalkyl group or a perfluoroalkenyl group and an acrylic acid group and a copolymer contg. a methacrylic acid ester, which has a glass transition temp. of 115 deg.C or above in a homopolymer form, as an essential constituent monomer. The methacrylic acid ester is isobornyl methacrylate or 4-cyanophenyl methacrylate, and a preferred amount thereof is 5-50wt% based on the total amount of the polymerizable compd. The polymerizable compd. includes a compd. of the formula (wherein Rf is a 3-21C perfluoroalkyl group or perfluoroalkenyl group; R<1> is H or a 1-10C alkyl group; R<2> is a 1-10 alkylene group; and R<3> is H or a methyl group).
