Method and apparatus for treating contaminated grit

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To upgrade treatment efficiency and to economically treat contaminated grit by disposing a separating body having many through-holes to a water surface part, introducing the scum-contg. contaminated grit into said body and oscillating the separating body in a vertical direction. CONSTITUTION:This invention relates to a treatment of the contaminated grit from a grit chamber, etc., in a pumping station and sewage treatment plant, in which part of the entire part of the separating body 3 having the many through-holes is disposed to the water surface part. This body 3 is oscillated in the vertical direction so as to be alternately positioned under and above the water surface. Then the water flow accompanying the bubbles B arises in the part of the through-holes 4a according to the oscillation and the contaminated grit S contg. the scum N on a separating plate 4 is washed by the water flow and is separated to the scum N and the grit S. The grit S in the through- holes 4a receives the water flow and the fine waste M and sand component S1 settle from the grit S when the plate 4 moves upward from the submerged state. Highly efficient and economical treatment of the contaminated grid is thus executed.
