Alloy powder for rare earth magnet and its production
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the alloy powder for a permanent magnet having high performance by subjecting an Fe-B- rare earth ingot to a soln. heat treatment then breaking down the ingot and subjecting the broken down alloy to H2 occlusion collapsion in a hermetic vessel and further to pulverization. CONSTITUTION:The alloy essentially consisting of 12-19.0atom% R, 5.5-8.5% B and 72.5-82.5% Fe and satisfying <=13.2% (0.4XR content+B content) is produced. R is >=1 kinds of rare earths contg. >=80% >=1 kind of Nd and Pr and the balance Y. The alloy produced in the above-mentioned manner is subjected to the soln. heat treatment at 700-1,160 deg.C and is then broken down to expose the metallic surface. The broken-down alloy is contained in the hermetic vessel into which gaseous H2 is supplied to collapse the alloy by H2 occlusion. The collapsed alloy powder is subjected to a dehydrogenation treatment and further the pulverization. The alloy powder for the rare earth magnet having high energy product is obtd. by the above-mentioned method. The coercive force of the magnet is improved if part of the Fe in the alloy is substd. with <=2% of >=1 kinds among Ti, V, Cr, Zr, Hf, Nb, Ta, Mo, W, Al and Si according to need.
