Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To make a pump to be compact, by forming either one of the back face of an impeller and the surface of a stator, which form a sliding part, with a ceramics formed with one-way spiral grooves on its smooth flat surface. CONSTITUTION:A back plate 16 on which a permanent magnet 15 is set adherently, is fixed on the back face of an impeller 2. This back plate 16 is made of a ceramics, and the end face 19 of it is formed with spiral grooves. Accordingly, sliding resistance generated at the sliding part formed of the surface of a fixed stator and the back face of the rotating impeller, is extremely small, and this sliding part can also stand big thrust load.
