Vessel having reduced frictional resistance
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce the frictional resistance under sailing by delivering fine foam through porous member at the upstream side end on the surface of vessel then flowing the foam group along many groves made in the surface of vessel and covering the surface of vessel with foam. CONSTITUTION:Many grooves 6a, 6b are made in the direction of water flow in the surface at the side and bottom of hull 1 then porous members 7a, 7b made of porous foam resin are mounted on the surface of hull 1 at the upstream end of said grooves 6a, 6b. Said grooves 6a, 6b are formed by sticking groove members 9 having triangular cross-section and excellent contamination-resistance onto the hull outerboard 8 through proper means. While the porous members 7a, 7b are assembled into the portion where said outerboard 8 is partially removed while an air sump 10a is formed at the inboard side of said members 7a, 7b to lead compressed air from a compressor and deliver as foam onto the surface of hull.
