Blue color emitting fluorescent substance
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:A blue-emitting fluorescent substance that is composed of lanthanum gadolinium oxybromide activated with Ce and Tm, thus showing high efficiency even under electron beam irradiation and high chemical stability for color- display television picture tubes. CONSTITUTION:The objective blue-emitting fluorescent substance is composed of 100pts.wt. of lanthunum gadolinium oxy bromide activated with 0.05-3pts.wt. of Ce and 0.01-0.05pt.wt. of Tm where the molar ratio of La/Gd is 0.5-30. The fluorescent substance is obtained by mixing sufficiently starting materials such as La2O3, Gd2O3 and so on in a ball mill, put them in a quartz crucible, further placing an appropriate amount of carbon on the mixture, then calcinating them at 800-1,500 deg.C for about 30min-5hr, cooled down, combed in water, washed with water and dried.
